A Sustainable Green Solution
You may keep reading that natural Talalay latex mattresses are eco-friendly and sustainable, but what does that really mean? From the moment the rubber tree is tapped to the first time you lay down on your new bed, Tranquility Mattresses strives to deliver a product that has been handled with an unparalleled commitment to quality as well as environmentally conscious practices.
Renewable Resource
Latex trees – specifically the Hevea rubber tree – are never cut down in order to source the latex. They are instead tapped, and in turn have an average production life of about 25 years. Trees also continue to live and function naturally, absorbing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and reducing greenhouse emissions.
No Chemicals - Environmentally Friendly Production
The production process of natural Talalay latex mattresses revolves around plant-based latex, air and water – so it is completely biodegradable. No harsh chemical solvents are used and no external filtration emits harmful elements into the air.
Energy and Water Consumption
Like all manufacturing, the process to create natural latex mattresses requires energy and water. We do our best to limit energy consumption by implementing power management techniques, better equipment and more efficient lighting. Water used during production is also recycled, re-purified and reused.
Post Production Materials
Any excess latex that remains after production of a mattress is used to create other latex products such as pillows or as a support layer to be used by the carpet industry.
The Future
We follow the philosophy that things can always be better. Tranquility Mattresses is proud of being a part of an eco-conscious movement, and we continually search for new ways to improve our methods.
